THE Daylesford Bulldogs have continued their winning streak by defeating Beaufort by 50 points at Jayco Oval on the weekend.
In sticky conditions, Daylesford rallied late to defeat a resilient Beaufort side, who stuck close to the Bulldogs for most of the day.
It was another poor start by the Bulldogs with Beaufort kicking the first goal of the game and locking down Daylesford's forwards. Key defenders Tom Reeves and James Evans were solid early as they repelled Beaufort attacks and kept Daylesford in the game at quarter time.
With the scores locked, Daylesford looked to its stars for a lift and they responded in great fashion. Michael Davis kicked his second to give Daylesford the lead, while spearhead Andrew Button added a goal to stretch the margin out beyond 20 at the main break.
Beaufort got off to a flyer in the second half, kicking the first major one minute in, but Daylesford quickly answered with a goal of their own. Both teams traded goals for most of the quarter until Daylesford put through three late majors, including a brilliant running goal by livewire Shannon Mobbs.
The final quarter would be all Daylesford. Joel Adams was terrific around the stoppages driving the ball forward on many occasions.
Even when Beaufort did go forward, Daylesford's back flankers Paul Cook and Zac Tisdale were there to mop up and set up another attack.
Two late goals from Michael Cummings allowed Daylesford to cruise to what was eventually a big win.
The Daylesford Football Netball Club would also like to advise that there will be an informal past players get together at the Daylesford clubrooms on August 16 when Daylesford take on Hepburn at Jayco Oval.
UNDER-18
DAYLESFORD started with good intensity, in a well-contested start. Daylesford's defence was working well and winning the ball allowing the onballers to control the centre. The forwards were given great options in front of goals. Daylesford showed great team work all around the ground and it showed on the score board.
