DAYLESFORD'S Katelyn Bugden will take her tae kwon do skills to Sydney next month to compete in the National Tae Kwon Do Championships.

Bugden recently competed at the national selections held at Melbourne's State Netball Centre taking home a silver medal in the second Dan, 14 to 17 years black belt female division.

She then paired up with Brooke Trainor to win silver in the pairs section.

Coach Shane Morrison said Bugden had put a lot of time into her training in Daylesford and in Ballarat with head instructor Russell Trainor.

"The National Tae Kwon Do Championships is run over three days and draws in over 1400 entries from across the country," he said.

"It is the largest martial arts competition in Australia.

Medal winners then have the opportunity to compete at the USA open in February next year."
