Zoe has eyes for the ball

CRESWICK Primary School pupil Zoe Hives has been selected to represent Victoria.

The 11-year-old is one of seven Victorian players who will play in the National Primary School Tennis Championships in Newcastle next month.

Mother Jan Hives said her daughter had been playing tennis since she was "about six" and was both dedicated and focused.

"Zoe plays at the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre, and between playing and coaching she has a racquet in her hands most days," she said.

"She would love to one day be a really good tennis player, perhaps in the Olympics, but so would many others.

"But Zoe is very, very dedicated and keeps trying."

Ms Hives said she and her husband Neil were both former tennis players and their sons, Luke, 17, and Scott, 15, were also quite capable, although their current love was cricket.
