'Hitman' model got off lightly, court told

Swedish-born waitress and model Charlotte Lindstrom received too lenient a sentence for soliciting a hitman to murder two witnesses, three Sydney judges have been told.

In the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal today, David Arnott, SC, for the crown, challenged the sentence imposed on Lindstrom in the NSW Supreme Court last March.

The 23-year-old was jailed for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years and ten months after admitting she solicited a hitman to murder two witnesses due to give evidence at her boyfriend's drug case.

But Mr Arnott today challenged the "combined discount" which the sentencing judge gave for Lindstrom's guilty plea and her assistance to the authorities.

The judge gave her a 60 per cent discount on the sentence he would have imposed if she had not pleaded guilty or helped the authorities.

The offence of soliciting a murder attracts a maximum penalty of 25 years.

Lindstrom, who is anorexic, was dressed in all black with her hair in a ponytail today.

The hearing is continuing before Appeal Court President Justice James Allsop, and Justices Bruce James and Derek Price.
